A Sumatran tiger

Tigers (Panthera tigris) are the largest cats to live in the wild. Tigers are native to Southern and Eastern Asia, tigers are apex predators and obligate carnivores. Tigers live up to 15 years in the wild and up to 20 years in captivity. Tigers weigh up to 300 kg/660 lb and canine teeth as long as a man's middle finger (4").

Food[]

Tigers eat small and large mammals, and is also known to prey on fish, birds, and monkeys.

Appearance & color[]

Tigers are orange with black stripes and white undersides. Tigers are known to have color mutations caused by a recessive gene.

Golden tigers, or golden tabby tigers are tigers with transparent and pale orange fur. These types of tigers aren't really common types





White tigers[]

White tigers have white fur with black stripes, some also have much more transprent stripes or are completely stripeless. These tigers are the most common type.






Maltese tigers[]

Maltese tigers have bluish-grey to slate grey fur and light grey under sides. These are the rarest type.







Threats[]

Tigers are hunted for their skins. They are also hunted for their claws & bones for medicine. Other threats are loss of prey and habitat
